Assessment & Evaluation System

Mannai Narayanasamy College of Physiotherapy follows a comprehensive and continuous evaluation system prescribed by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, ensuring transparency, fairness, and academic rigor.

Attendance Requirements
  • Minimum 75% attendance in theory classes
  • Minimum 85% attendance in practical / clinical training

Students failing to meet the attendance requirements shall not be permitted to appear for the examination, as per University norms.

Assessment Components

The evaluation system consists of Formative (Internal) Assessment and Summative (University) Examination:

1. Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA)

Internal assessment forms the formative component of evaluation and is carried out throughout the academic year. It includes:

  • Periodic written tests
  • Practical and clinical performance assessment
  • Case presentations and viva-voce
  • Assignments, seminars, and skill demonstrations
  • Clinical log books and performance records

Internal assessments are conducted by the academic faculty and documented systematically for review.

2. University / External Examination

The summative assessment is conducted by the University at the end of each academic year.

Passing Criteria
  • A candidate must secure minimum 50% marks in theory and 50% marks in practical separately
  • Both theory and practical examinations must be passed independently
  • If a candidate fails in either theory or practical, both components must be reappeared in the subsequent examination
